Preamble

As Alaska Libertarians, we believe that individuals have the right to life, liberty and property.

 

1.0 Personal Liberty

Individuals should be free to make choices for themselves and to accept responsibility for consequences for the choices they make.

1.1 Communication and Expression

We support full freedom of expression and oppose government censorship, regulation, or control of communications media and technology.

1.2 Personal Privacy

We support the rights recognized by the Fourth Amendment to be secure in our persons, homes, and property.

1.3 Crime and Justice

Government exists to protect the rights of every individual including life, liberty and property.

1.4 Self-Defense

The only legitimate use of force is in defense of individual rights-life, liberty, and justly acquired property-against aggression.

1.5 Economic Liberty

We advocate that all members of society have abundant opportunities to achieve economic success.

1.6 Property and Contract

Property rights are entitled to the same protection as all other human rights. The owners of property have the full right to control, use, dispose of, or in any manner enjoy, their property,

1.7 Environment

The best way to protect the environment is through a vigorous protection of private property rights and a free market economy.

1.8 Energy and Resources

While energy is needed to fuel a modern society, government should not be subsidizing any particular form of energy.

1.9 Government Finance and Spending

All persons are entitled to keep the fruits of their labor.

 

2.0 Money And Financial Markets

We favor free-market banking, with unrestricted competition among banks and depository institutions of all types.

2.1 Monopolies and Corporations

We defend the rights of individuals to form corporations, cooperatives and other types of companies based on voluntary association.

2.2 Labor Markets

We support repeal of all laws which impede the ability of any person to find employment.

2.3 Education

Education, like any other service, is best provided by the free market, achieving greater quality and efficiency with more diversity of choice.

2.4 Health Care

We favor restoring and reviving a free market health care system.

2.5 Retirement and Income Security

Retirement planning is the responsibility of the individual, not the government.

2.6 National Defense

We support a sufficient voluntary military force to provide against foreign aggression.

2.7 Internal Security and Individual Rights

We support the repeal of the Patriot Act and the abolition of the Department of Homeland Security and the Transportation Safety Administration.

2.8 International Affairs

American foreign policy should seek an America at peace with the world.

2.9 Free Trade and Migration

We support the removal of governmental impediments to free trade.

 

3.0 Rights And Discrimination

Government may not discriminate based on any individual’s rights, sexual orientation, preference, gender, or gender identity. Group rights do not supersede individual rights.

3.1 Parental Rights

We support the liberty of parents to direct the upbringing, education and care of their children as a fundamental right.

3.2 Representative Government

We support electoral systems that are more representative of the electorate at the federal, state, and local levels.

3.3 Self-Determination

Whenever any form of government becomes destructive of individual liberty, it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it, and to agree to such new governance as to them shall seem most likely to protect their individual liberty.

3.4 Sovereign Rights

The ALP supports the process of inter-position and nullification of any laws which violates the U.S. constitution or is detrimental to the sovereign rights of Alaska lands.

3.5 Alaska Lands

The ALP supports the end of all federal sovereignty of Alaska Lands
